We will start 2012 with a celebration of the New Year.  Hopefully, we will have some snow after that as we study penquins.  We will be learning about a variety of penquins, where they live and what they eat. 
 
When we are done with our penquin unit, we will be learning more about our bodies, what is good for us to eat, and how we can take care of ourselves.  Before winter is over, we pray we have a chance to bundle up and play in the snow.
 
There are special days we will be learning about during January and February.  Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Chinese New Year, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, President's Day and  Lent.

During Discovery Time, the children choose from many different activities.  These might include: cutting, gluing, drawing, playing house, doing puzzles, using play dough and playing games.  Some of these activities will be the same each day.  Some will change.  This is a fun time and a great learning time.  The children learn social and communication skills.
